we have decided to collate a table for our view on tony ryan's thinker keys. we decided to do this because we feel it is the best way to see the positives and negatives of the thinkers keys and our personal view on them.
positive there are many ways of thinking and thoroughly encourages creativity and thinking 'outside of the box'
it encourages student directed learning rather than teacher directed
the keys can be used across the whole curriculum, not just in one area
very flexible to use as they can be implemented into all subject areas
the keys can be adapted to suit any year level
such creativity involved
negative there are 20 keys, it is almost too broad because there are so many keys to look at and understand their purpose
a very visual based learning tool therefore it might not cater for all learners as we do not all learn in a visual way
created in the 1980's. learning has changed a lot since then, therefore might be slightly outdated
Interesting
it is interesting that there are 20 different types of thinking keys i.e. 20 different ways of thinking
it can be applied to a range of topics
the 20 keys can be used as an observational assessment allowing teachers to assess their students in many ways
